How long have you worked for MVHS and what other experiences have you had?

I have been a school counselor with MVHS since August of 2008. Prior to being with MVHS, I worked as a "traditional" school counselor for 2 years.

What is something unique about you?

I traveled to Australia several years ago and I climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Why do you like working for MVHS?

I like working for MVHS for several reasons. First I love talking with students and helping them work through their questions and life challenges. I also enjoy the staff I work with at MVHS. We work together as a team and we truly want to make students feel welcome at our school. Finally, I love the newness of the virtual setting. It is very exciting to be on the cutting edge!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

It is so hard to choose. I love to travel! Lately, I've been curious about visiting Iceland.

What tip do you have for students to be more successful in an online school?

Reach out and make connections, especially when you are struggling. If you get to know your teachers, counselor and other staff you will feel more invested. Also, keep in mind your long term goals. Your high school diploma is very important.
